Novell apologists would deny so, but the fact is that Novell is lately playing for the other side. With things that are ridiculous like forking openOffice into a version for windows that is more powerful (Seriously, wtf?) Spreading FUD against other distros (Which is just a shame) Pushing for MONO-fication of gnome (And thus make it dependent on MS) Letting MS make Linux a second class citizen by allowing it to be virtualized on windows but not complaining about MS not letting it happen otherwise. Advertising MS' "optionally-open XML", silverlight and other threats to open source. Pushing moonlight which - according to Miguel Icaza and Novell themselves - will only be distributable legally by Novell , not even in openSUSE.

I think that by now it would be shortsighted not to call the deal harmful to Linux.

KDE Four Live doesn't really bear much impression to what an openSUSE release is actually like, so you should definitely try out the actual release too!

i really wish the official release will enable plug and play for usb wireless adapter (laptop and desktop), built in wifi adapter(mini pci perhaps), webcam. yeah, we can simply solve it by installing ndiswrapper or madwifi, but for newbie, it is too hassle. hehe, i was considered a newbie 7 days ago.. been stood in front of laptop 24/7 to get use to it.

anyway, too many packages, hope someone can suggest any website have admin/moderator/author as well as users who review the packages. I need to know which is the best of the best. Im afraid if I try it by myself, it will KABOOM!

cheers!

Yes, KDE is well supported in KDE. What a shame I'm a big GNOME fan :/ I wish openSUSE could improve support for GNOME (more polishing, more native apps like update manager etc.).

Nice to see KDE on the screenshots, instead of Gnome. SuSE was always meant to be a KDE distro.
