Susan from tuxmachines.org has been one of the most constant testers of openSUSE releases for quite some time and for openSUSE 10.3 Alpha 7 she wrote again a detailed report with her observations and put up a screenshot gallery showing the new artwork. The wiki internationalization effort continues, with the Finnish Wiki joining the existing 16 international wikis. Daniel informed us that he recently launched suseforum.se, a web forum with the intention of being a gathering point for the openSUSE community in Sweden.

KDE 4.0 Beta 1 has been released which marks the beginning of the integration process which will bring the powerful new technologies included in the now frozen KDE 4 libraries to the applications. Also the second Alpha of KOffice 2.0 has been announced. As usual unsupported packages are available for openSUSE 10.2 and Factory in the openSUSE Build Service. If you want to test-drive the new releases: the openSUSE Factory-based and with Kiwi created “KDE Four Live” CD has been updated.

The openSUSE Build Service generates .ymp files from now on, which can be used with Benjamin Weber’s One Click Install YaST Module.
This module takes care that all required repositories get used for installation and installs a predefined set of packages. You need no root permissions just to browse the content of a .ymp file.
