When I first started using openSUSE I used the wiki all the time. The majority of the information I get comes from it. The whole reason it is there is so you DON'T have to go posting every question under the sun on some forum. It is far easier to just search for it on a wiki.. Also, having good documentation is important to attract new users, believe it or not. And as far as his English..as long as he gets his point across who cares. This isn't an English class. And speaking of bad English, you may want to revise that last sentence ;)

Hvala Alane,

drago mi je da si se javio i nadam se da ćeš moći naći vremena da pomogneš oko openSUSE wiki, ili čega drugoga što nađeš interesantno.

Sve najbolje korisnicima openSUSE u Novoj 2008.
All the best to openSUSE users in New 2008.

Rajko.

PS.
anon is too young to understand fact that if everybody would ask for help on IRC, than communication capacity would be too small and channels will be overcrowded and useless.

Most of new users are actually reading first, just as it is recommended on many places, than if it doesn't work well they ask for help.

he's not a developer, just someone that works on the wiki.

Is documentation for new users important or a waste of time? how many new users actually use it, I know I never did, never would, couldn't be bothered reading it all, so simply asked for help in the forums.

ps, time machine was a very boring page, and a complete waste of time.

Perhaps with people that cannot write proper English, before their interviews are placed up someone can check it, this interview is just crap to read because the guys English is third world

Thanks for the comment Dow.

The new users access to information in Linux is the problem since ever.
The required skill level for painless entry is today much lower than 10 years ago, and in many respects we are now better than alternatives, including major commercial, but there is a lot of room for improvements.

Should I say ideas are welcome :-)

Thanks for the wise words! It is gratifying to hear from a OpenSuSE developer that isn't under 30 and grown up only in an electronic world. Also, I appreciate the steady balanced contribution to OpenSuSE that Rajko represents. It is the contributor you can count on that is most important. At this point, I think it is pretty obvious that improving the OpenSuSE documentation for new Linux users is a very important priority. Desktop software stability and good documentation for a new user is where OpenSuSE can use some improvement. The server side is already rock solid. I agree with Rajko that the wiki could use some improvement with a view toward the brand new user. Thanks for a nice interview!
