Yay live CDs! Those things must help spur linux adoption considerably by giving people a chance to “try before you buy”
I don’t think that anyone would buy Factory installation CDs…
Is it possible to provide a web interface such that you can select packages you want for your bespoke openSUSE ’spin’ *before* downloading an ISO? I don’t know if it is technically feasible or not, I suspect it would mean a lot of extra computing power on your side. I just had the idea that the user could visit spin.opensuse.org click through some checkboxes (like in a real install) then KIWI could generate this custom ISO on your servers for the user to download. I know I could just download the DVD but by now I know exactly what packages I need and it lies somewhere between the CD and the DVD (also I could then add packages from community repositories too). I think KIWI can (or soon will) be able to do this on my PC, I wondered if this could be done on your side for lazy people like me

I’d like this too as there is so much in opensuse that I don’t want. example, I don’t want openoffice, I don’t want any games. I don’t wanta load of different media players. I feel that a lot of the download is just a waste of time and bandwidth on products I don’t want.
You should use the mini-ISO and do a network installation then.
openSUSE used to bundle iFolder with the distro. That was one of my main reasons for choosing openSUSE. But now, better iFolder support can be found with other distros. It’s really frustrating since iFolder is a Novell app. I think it’d be great if iFolder was added back to the factory CDs.
no ifolder should not be in a factory cd. A factory cd is not intended for a production computer, and is for testing purposes only.
next, what is opensuse.org run on, I hope it isn’t it’s own product, please say it is run on microsoft, because the constant amount of internal errors encountered on this site this year is embarrassing if it is. every time I come here I am getting constant internal 500 errors. And it’s not just limited to the website, constantly there are error’s on the repositories as well.
As far as I know, OpenSuSE.org itself runs on Novell Netware. (So says Netcarft, so take that as you will)

I most certainly think that iFolder should be on a factory CD. You argue that a factory CD is used to test, but why would you not want to test the new version of iFolder?
