The installation begins properly but when it is creating X config it stops. and freezes , and a black screen comes up no start x

I had this problem with toshiba satellite x205 sli1 system , uses nvidia 3d card , I don't remember the exact name at the moment but its a sli 1GB card in the laptop

I was trying to use gnome iso of opensuse 11.1 beta4 of gnome cd iso version burned to dvd, and yes it runs fine on my desktop computer, but I do need to set the res to 1680 x 1050 , the beta tryies to use a higher res than my monitor supports , I think because it looks squesed up on my samsung 22" monitor , native res is 1680 x 1050 only, no higher than that

the desktop nvidia card is BFG geforce gtx 280 1GB card

again I get the locking up on creating X config , I tryed the iso safe mode too it also locks up on the same thing on the laptop computer only, use the amd64 iso did not try the x86 one for the laptop but I would guess it would lock up on that one too I don't no yet

I love the SuSe Product. My only major serious complaint about Linux in general however is that WIFI support is and has been seriously lacking since the beginning.
As aggressively as the Linux community tries to keep up with the state of the art, I find it troubling that it has NEVER taken WIFI support seriously. I would think that since the major competitor to linux, you know, "that pane in the glass" operating system runs about everything but the kitchen sink, the Linux folks would have made this a top priority. Can anyone tell me when the Atheros WIFI adapter support will be integrated into in the Linux kernel? They (the Arheros folks) have a section linux kernal integration section on their website but not being a major SW geek (all due respect) myself, my attempts at doing the integration myself have all crashed and burned.

Just tried the 11.1 LiveCD beta and have confirmed that wireless is at least working at this time. I was wondering what thoughts are going forward from now. If I do a Beta4 installation, will Delta ISOS be the recommended path forward through RC1, RC2 etc, or would it be best to do a clean install after full formal release? Just want to know so I can plan time & testing accordingly

Three programs that work on SUSE 10.3 but do not work on SUSE 11.0. These are ngspice: It compiles fine, but the ngnutmeg part (the graphics part) does not work at all. dislin does not work on SUSE 11.0. This is plotting program. Some features of the program, "bibletime" do not work on SUSE 11.0 bu do on 10.3. I hope Suse 11.1 fexes the incompatibility.

Sorry, but I do not right understand, what your point is. I also like the new gnome-wallpaper and look forward to see it in KDE too. However, if you meant the old walpaper, it is just a matter of taste. I can life with both.

I you meant the plasma-theme: I think it integrates best with the current look of openSUSE. I think it has something to with corporate design.

regards

(EE) Radeonhd (0): RandR: No valid modes. Disabling RandR support.
(EE) Radeonhd (0): Failed to detect a connected monitor.
(EE) Radeonhd (0): Screen(s) found, but none have usable configuration.
