Make sure to have the matching kernel source, and devel (kernel-desktop), su to init 3, and run the nVidia script. Init 5, then run nvidia-settings (best run as root, so save to X11.config works OK!)]]></description>

@Steve: The same problem would stay for the ati-Radeon graphic cards, I guess?
