The reason is simple: on gitorious, I can configure everything (repository description/config, ssh keys) using a simple web interface, on git.o.o I would need to mail the admin to do every single change for me. For that reason, many repos moved from git.o.o to gitorious.org/opensuse and new repos are being created there. That said, if there is strong demand for a mirror on git.o.o, I could set it up, but currently I don’t see a reason for that.

Really, it looks a little like Novell Legal could not get their act together in time to sign off the kernel tree releases on opensuse.org itself. Or something like that; it certainly is a sign of giving up identity by not using one’s own hosting space.
