Oops! I make a mistake in my previous comment:

My video card is an GeForce 9500M GS. The nouveau driver does not work, the vesa driver won't give me a resolution above 800x600, and I can't compile the nVidia driver the "hard way," because the memory seems not to be set up correctly by the BIOS (there is no BIOS update, however, and ASUS is not willing to offer one).

As I said before, this issue was resolved in 11.2 x86_64, and I know that before that, the IOMEM issue could be fixed by editing the i386.c file (in pci somewhere in the kernel) and recompiling.

This problem still exists for 11.3 RC1 x86_64. There is a discussion of the problem and the fix here : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=849395 and a bug report can be found here : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/288843

This problem concerns me, as it makes this distribution - which I would prefer to use as my daily OS - unacceptable for use. I know that Slackware 13.1 (x86_64) does not have this problem. Perhaps I will have to give up on openSUSE 11.3 because of the lack of support for my machine. I'll give it one more try in 'final,'but as of now, my expectations are not high... This suprises me from a distro that typically has great hardware support, especially for laptops, and even more so because this issue had been resolved previously.

Nonetheless, thank you for providing a very nice distro, and for all of your hard work.

I was very happy with 11.2's support for my video card (nV GeForce 6100M Go on an Asus G1Sn-B1), but it seems that whatever fix was put in place for 11.2 disappeared from 11.3. The problem is that the memory is out of range (BIOS problem, it seems) and thus the card cannot be configured (ie, no nouveau driver). Choosing vesa as the driver gives horrible graphics, but it does work. This isn't the only distro this has happened with, but it is somewhat concerning (and perplexing), that bugs that were fixed for previous releases don't automatically get worked into the next release.

That being said, we're not even at RC1 yet, so I have high hopes for 11.3 final! Oh, and can't wait for btrfs!

OpenSuse is not concerned with Quality what so ever. I say this as New Releases are Year, Date Dependant. If that date comes we release the next version. Like all previous version release their will be a large number of Critical and Major Bugs at time of Release.
The QA Manager appears to have no Authority.
QA does not get involved in bugs that take forever to resolve.
QA accepts what ever type of closure reason is used as in the example wontfix. QA does not ask Why this cannot be fixed?
QA does not decide on an RC is good enough to go to master
QA does not over see the Management of Bugs nor FATE and both chase their resolution or agrees a new feature is required
QA does not care that within 2 versions of OpenSuse we still cannot get KDE4 Network Management icons to view or Impact Yast Network Management settings.
Every Failure and Success of a release fall on the QA Manager when the buck stops.
Without good QA management the project has little guidance, other than a few team members talking about stuff
The QA Manager has NO teeth and until Novell Installs a professional QA Manager nothing will change.
Many others involved in Software Development understands what a Professional QA Does and how the guide the project.
I would just like to know what ISO's are used to form the basis of the Quality System??????

I should have been clearer: I was referring to User Interface quality and ease of use. Things like network manager in 11.2 were a pain to use: Cluttered UI in KDE's applet when there are many Wifi spots visible (~30 where I live), inability to log-in to invisible Wifi networks without going to the command line and doing some manual stuff there, etc. Yes, the system is stable (if that's what your view of quality is) but I find it a pain to use.
