Comments on: openSUSE 11.3 Launch Information

#1. Make sure your System is set to boot from the DVD if a bootable one is in the Drive.
#2. Place your new openSuSE 11.3 DVD in your DVD Drive.
#3. Re-boot your system.
#4. You will get all the preliminary screens of info and questions. Just answer them correctly.
#5. When you get to the screen that asks, “Install -or- Update” choose Update.
#6. Just continue following the directions and answering any questions.
#7. You can look at http://www.trcompu.com/Computers/LinNotes/NewSuSE-11-3.html for further info.

I am a newbie running 11.2 on a x86-64 based iMac using Parallels as a virtual machine handler for windoze and Linux. I have downloaded the 11.3 iso file and put it on a dvd. ? If I “open” the dvd I can see all of the files, when double-click the autotun.inf file it trys to start, but complains that the sutorun function is not found. The question is what do I have to do to start an upgrade to 11.3 instead of a new install.

if the kernel param nomodeline is set, the standard proprietary nvidia drivers install and run fine.

But what about the nvidia drivers! and where is kde plasma increases! Would not any better to wait for the essentials were in place! I think otherwise this distro looks very interesting, but for my part that holds the nvidia had to unfortunately give up.

I think most of them have each a little too quick to drop their respective distros. You should wait until the most crucial is in place, such as drivers, if possible! and see again all the mirrors are in place before a final release.

Verry good as I see it, but:
Well, I have dvd `s but must wait until you get everything finally in place! This I believe would not be necessary with a finale.

Current Bugs at time of writing lists 11.3 has 1/82/201 Being Blocker/Critical/Major in number. I have NO concept of how an RC becomes GM at this huge number.

YES!!! my upgrade from 11.2 has arrived. thank you linux team. another excellent job!!!
this is my favourite OS side-by-side with Debian 5 Lenny Stable. now, all i have to do is wait for squeeze to come out ^)^
