Well, Today I downloaded the stable release openSuse 11.4,

To say this would be the WORST linux I ever experienced. So MANY errors to list in this place. I felt sick !!!

For ex it says one of the Gnome images has been hacked by an external party "Do you still want to install?" That was funny and shocking !!! Shame on Novel

Dude, you are using an OS that isn't even BETA yet. Are you completely dunce? The i686 is perfectly fine for your N450, I have an HP Mini with that same chipset. You will need to install the broadcom_wl driver to get wifi working. GO into terminal and type "uname -a" It will say default or desktop, so be sure to install the broadcom_wl package that also names same as your Kernel. You get that from the Packman repos. Either use ethernet or DL to removable media. Your miserably screen refresh rate is most likely because you are using Nouveau drivers, find out what your graphics card is and find the appropriate vendor supplied driver for it.

Guys, did you understand that it's Linux, not Windows? I'm sick and tired reading stupid comparing Linux distro. In Linux word it's just individual preference and fulfilling your needs!
Ubuntu working much and much worse(freezes, errors, not detecting scanners, printer, slower Internet connection and more, more) that Suse 11.3 on my desktop. On laptop Ubuntu works fine, but I would never recommend Ubuntu, because I don't like it. I prefer Gentoo on my laptop. So, what better? Noting! It's my preference, that's all. With Gentoo I install exactly what I need, and set it up exactly as I need. And whom I must blame if I wanna be super guy and using bleeding edge packages?
Until companies do not stops stupid racings, do not expect good, stable version of any distro. Period!

I have tested the openSUSE-GNOME-LiveCD-Build0957-i686.iso on a s10-3t netbook and on a HP Compaq d530 Ultra-slim Desktop Desktop PC with a Horizon 2206SW 22inch/5ms Monitor.
Not even the desktop monitor where unrecognized (was replaced found as a wrong choice), but more trouble on laptop. No Broadcom wifi, no touchpad buttons... very bad. O fourse, you may try to say that i686 is not for N450 (386) processor, but the lack of other support and the miserable windows refresh is not because Intel.
As a prime conclusin, this is the worst Suse distro I've tested.. faraway from Ubuntu 11.04 alpha. If openSUSE think to grow again, please take a look on Ubuntu. With their distro, almost everything seems work...

Wonderful release, using it already as main desktop (KDE 64bit) and I found a problem: won't connect to an sftp server. I remember this problem was also present in KDE 4.5 and it got fixed through an update. Anybody got an idea if this can be fixed manually until the next update?

Is the ugly font-rendering of Suse 11.x now finally solved with freetypes bytecode patents issue being over in ver 2.4 or is opensuse still mad for "patent infringments" ?

i love suse for tech, but its a horror to my eyes when I sit all day before horribly looking fonts. I use ubuntu for that matter now. Just compare a default fresh install of gnome in suse and in ubuntu and you see what i mean.

i sincerely hope that KDE 6.6 PIM gets all the testing it needs, as it would be a crying shame to regress to an older model, and opensuse 11.4 is showing so much promise as arriving as a cutting edge release.
