This said, I am a bit surprised that the number of 32-bit downloads is higher than the 64-bit ones. Aren’t most, if not all, current PC processors supporting x86_64? It has been the case for many years now, but maybe many people are not aware of it.

This bias may be caused by the default option set to “32 bit PC” on software.opensuse.org. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to better help people choose between 32-bit and 64-bit versions?

Transparent support of x86_64 is an advantage over Windows, whose 32-bit version is very often shipped with PCs supporting x86_64. What a pity to use a CPU only in a retro-compatible way…
