I've been very happy with SpiderOak so far.

Check out their beta release of 9823 to resolve a Qt conflict in KDE. The stable release works great in Gnome.

Thanks for pointing out some alternatives.
OwnCloud seems promising. I would love to see more integration of it into the desktop, preferably KDE. WebDAV in dolphin is not a convenient option: You can't use the folder offline and sync it later, like Dropbox. What about integration into Akonadi and KDE-PIM? No not KOLAB, that's groupware - ownCloud could be a much simpler solution for just syncing contacts and calender.

Hi,

very interesting! Two comments:

- spideroak is not available in repos for 11.4 (I did not find it).
- An online service that I think deserves mention is Wuala. It's not fully open, but it uses mostly open stacks, and it encrypts data securely, with keys known only to the user (if you lose it, you lose data, since there is no way to recover it)

Best.
