The install package description points to “http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/12.1:/Update:/Test/standard/” which does not exist. Has the repository URL changed?

Nice work. I personally use the iFolder tool. Which is the most superior sync tool (imho). It has however some drawbacks, such ad using mono and .Net and logging in is slowing down the PC. The sync feature however PLUS the fact it is on my personal P4 machine under the desk makes it a winner. I hope this tool will become as good as iFolder since there seems to be a lack of development, espescially for mobile devices.

Indeed, finally a cloud solution that sounds appealing. THANKS a lot!
The only thing I find a bit odd is the tool mirall. I am using OpenSuSE on a server that has no graphical frontend, so hopefully the mirall functionality gets merged into the commandline version of YaST…

If not, I am afraid it will be manually installing ownCloud on my server. Still: that looks a lot more appealing to me than all the “we promise great things for YOUR data” cloud solutions we have today :)

The ownCloud devs have been very open to new stuff – and I bet doing this won’t be too hard. It might not be high on their agenda, however, so patches are welcome :D

This is the first cloud solution I see (as an average user of openSUSE) that appeals to me.
The suggestion that you know where your files are and the integration with openSUSE, is the main attraction for me.
Very anxious to explore..

My congrats to Klass, Frank and the team for this, I look forward to trying it out.

Future plans sound good to:

“The plan is that mirall will continue to be developed and of course become available for more linux distributions. We hope to offer deeper integration in the desktops in openSUSE, expand on the functionality and take advantage of the other features of ownCloud like photo, music, agenda and system configuration synchronization.”

Particularly interested in whether Owncloud will be able to sync bookmarks from epub files, perhaps between apps such as iconic e-reader app and calibre ebook manager, to provide similar functionality to that of kobo etc……….

I realise this is for the app itself to support, but it is technically feasible (and interesting) for Owncloud (developers) to provide the required functionality?
